As we proudly continue into our 30th season of dance education, Legein Dance Academy strives to inspire students with the love of dance and an appreciation for the arts. Our proficiency for training skilled dancers has led to a strong and valued reputation in our field.

Our current facility located at 39 Sandy Bottom Rd in Coventry houses 3,000 square feet of space with 2 studio rooms equipped with hardwood floors. Our teaching faculty are all certified by test to teach Pre-school to adults in all levels of dance training. We offer an extensive program in: Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Musical Theater Dance and Dance History. Our newest addition of classes includes Drama and Voice for ages 7 and up.

Terrie Legein comes from a dancing family, beginning her training at the age of 3. The love for the art of dance began with her Mother, Aunt and siblings and as it was passed on to her it grew into the passion she now shares today with her own children, grandchildren and students. With great support from her husband, she opened her first studio in the basement of their home in 1978. It quickly grew and became Legein Dance Academy of Performing Arts with its base moving from Coventry to Hope and back to Coventry again with a satellite location added in Hope Valley in 1999. Now after 35+ years of teaching, she shares the artistic creative responsibilities with her daughter Allison Simoes, Assistant Director.

Although many of our students have moved on to professional training in the world of dance, the prime focus still remains on the majority of students who enroll to have fun in learning dance. It is our philosophy to encourage our students to feel, think and act respectfully to their peers, the adults in their lives, and themselves. Our program relies on a positive atmosphere for our faculty, dancers and parents and it promotes a positive learning experience for all involved. The spirit of teamwork and the lesson of dedication are a big part of our school’s educational process.

We all share a common goal: to assure that every child receives the best possible training both physically and mentally. Mutual respect between our faculty, children and parents provide the students with the ultimate care and education in dance.
